Settling in our Moroccan home base

And we made it!! We arrived in Rabat, Morocco at 12:30 pm which is 6:30 am CST. Today was spent adjusting to the new environment and time difference. There are 10 of us at the home base now and 3 more coming in late tonight so it will be a full house. I will attach pictures of the front of our living area along with some from the inside when I can figure it out :). As we walked around the neighborhood we noticed all the houses are enclosed in a structure of some sort- either walls or trees and tight bushes. We also have a guard that stays on grounds at all times. There are three lovely ladies that take care of us and have three warm meals waiting for us each day. There is a small mall and supermarket just down the road but other than that we will need to take the bus or taxi to other parts of the city.

Should we start packing now...??

Here we are, the night before and finally getting around to packing. Of course, we have our lists made :) Our plan is to stay up late tonight so Dustin will crash on the 8 hour plane ride from Detroit to Paris tomorrow evening, but I can fall asleep on a car ride from our house to the mall 15 minutes away so no worries there. Our flight departs Omaha at 1:52 pm tomorrow to Detroit, Paris and Rabat where we land at 12:20 pm Saturday. Dustin is very excited about the plane meals!!
Thank you all for the support and thoughts you have and continue to give us! We would not have been able to make this adventure without all of you. We started planning this last year as a 30th birthday gift to me and a 3 year anniversary present to ourselves. We have always wanted to travel overseas and knew we had to have a completely different experience than the typical vacation. Our goal is to enrich the lives of those we teach as well as immerse ourselves in the culture. Thank you again and stay tuned!!
